Earning Your Wheels SILVER & GOLD Programs

MTI is very excited to announce 2 new programs now available to our Earning Your Wheels students! These new programs combine MTI’s respected Earning Your Wheels course with the latest in advanced driver training from MTI’s Professional Driver Development Division. Students choosing these advanced programs will receive instruction in MTI’s full motion driving simulator previously only available to experienced drivers. The SILVER and GOLD programs utilize the driving simulator to teach advanced concepts in a realistic environment. All of the simulator courses are taught by MTI’s expert instructors.

  EYW SILVER

The SILVER program provides advanced training on how to handle poor driving conditions and how to drive for better fuel economy. Both courses use the unique capabilities of the driving simulator to create a safe and highly effective learning environment.

Adverse Conditions I

Driving in Adverse Conditions I course allows the student to experience some of the worst conditions a professional driver will ever encounter. Snow, ice, poor visibility are all simulated along with a loaded or empty truck. These exercises allow the driver to feel how a truck handles in these difficult conditions without risk to the driver or the truck. There is no better way to prepare for adverse driving conditions than to spend time in the simulator experiencing how to drive safely in bad weather.

Fuel Economy I

Carriers and owner operators alike are looking for professional drivers who operate safely and efficiently. Fuel costs are influenced directly by the driver behind the wheel of the power unit and that person alone will determine the profitability of the unit. Drivers who have a proven ability to perform efficiently at the wheel of a truck are in the highest demand. This program gives real time feed back to the student in a variety of scenarios and configurations to start them on their way to a profitable career. Successful students operate their trucks at significantly improved levels of fuel economy.

The SILVER program adds 8 hours to the standard Earning Your Wheels program and is taken over 2 days. The SILVER program includes ground transportation to and from the Castlegar campus and 2 nights accommodation in Surrey. Meals are the responsibility of the client.

  EYW GOLD

The Earning Your Wheels GOLD program provides more advanced training for the student who wishes to obtain the best and most comprehensive driver training program available anywhere!

The GOLD program includes both courses in the SILVER program plus an Advanced level of the Adverse Conditions course and the Space Management incident reduction course.

Adverse Conditions II

The Adverse Conditions II course builds on the level 1 program. The student is challenged to make decisions in an even more complex set of circumstances. Their reflex action and decision making ability are tested in a variety of advanced scenarios which can be replayed in order to train them to make better decisions. Training in avoidance techniques in real time builds confidence in drivers.

Space Management

Carriers and their insurance companies are always looking at ways to reduce incidents. The Space Management course equips you to make appropriate driving decisions to keep you safe and your carrier profitable. Most importantly the Space Management programs are proven to reduce incidents by 20 to 25% which keeps our roads safer for everyone!

The GOLD program adds 16 hours to the standard Earning Your Wheels program and is taken over 4 days at MTI’s Surrey Professional Driver Development facility. The GOLD program includes transportation to and from Castlegar as well as 4 night’s accommodation in Surrey. Meals are the responsibility of the client.

Enhance your employment prospects by taking this valuable training!
